A rather docile creature, the Faleara (Fall-are-ah), can create much disaster. These creatures are roughly about 1 foot tall. They feed on embers and ash from fires, which is then processed in their special organs. They are quite hot to touch, since these organs produce a lot of heat, as well as their diet. When threatened they produce even more heat, and often times start fires when near dry leaves, etc. They live deep in caves in hives about as a large as an average sized house, with a queen that dwells inside about 5 feet in height. she never leaves the nest, however, because the outside world is much too dangerous for her. She can lay about 5000 to 8000 eggs every year, although few of the Faleara survive, due to extreme competition amongst the larvae.
The adult Faleara’s skin is quite translucent, enough that some of the organs are visible, however, when they feed, they light up, much like a firefly, and are often mistaken for them when viewed from a distance.
None of these creatures have ever been caught alive due to their destructive nature when threatened. Also, finding a dead specimen is near impossible, as when they die, their bodies produce enough heat to burn them until they’re just ash piles, which is then swept away from the wind.
They have their own language, and are able to speak to each other. Some have even been said to have spoken English.
There’s been numerous sightings in various forests around North America, but nothing credible enough to classify these creatures as a new, intelligent species.
So, it’s been quite some time since I’ve updated my “blog”, or whatever you’d call this… Me? I call this rambling, generally, with no real sense of anything important, unless you enjoy rambling, then, by all means, read on, dear friend, read on. To get to the point, this is merely an update letting you know that I haven’t updated in a while, in case you have noticed, which, by now, I’m sure you have as I’ve just informed you. Upon the coming weeks I plan to be uploading more creatures, monsters and whatnots to my gallery, as well as articles of written work from my “Horror Hills” project. So, please, leave an eye with the leaky man at the front desk and I’ll be sure to hold anything up for your viewing pleasure. Until then, make sure to follow me on twitter, and feel free to add me to “facebook”, which is located in the “my links” section on the right.
I had the privilege of viewing this tonight. More specifically, midnight. Even more specifically, one minute after midnight… at least, that’s when the “show time” was. we all know there’s about 10 minutes of previews. Anyway, on to the… vague review, thing. I don’t really like writing reviews, because I don’t feel that I’m all that adept at writing them. I prefer to write short little things saying that I liked this movie and you should see it, because I recommend it command you to.
Basically, if you haven’t seen the trailers (you’re blind and deaf, and don’t own any sort of media outlet), it’s about an alien race that’s stuck on earth due to their mothership being stranded. They land in, or above, for the sake of accuracy, Johannesburg, South Africa, and are made to live in an enclosed area called “District 9″. Quite a name, for a lovely little area that resembles a slum of sorts. This, in itself, made me quite interested in the film, because I wanted to see how these outsiders would be treated, (or, more so, if my speculations of them being treated with absurd amounts of racism are accurate).
Now, I hate to give away a lot about movies that I like, because then it wouldn’t be fair to you, but let me just say that I was blown away by this, well… not THAT blown away, but the cinematography was beautiful, and the story was quite fantastic. I sincerely hope you watch this…
I was bored and felt like making a mock promo shot for my project “Horror Hills”. Here it is. It’s not done, since I just threw in a photo of a city scape and recoloured it… I’m going to be drawing it up, and making it my own, but for now… enjoy.
Just got home from seeing Pixar’s UP in 3D,. I was quite excited to go, since I had never seen a movie in 3D before… aside from the “rides” at wonderland years ago. I must say that it was quite a spectacular experience, and I’m most definitely looking forward to seeing another 3D film, perhaps Toy Story 3?
So here I am, at the movie theatre. I had just handed my ticket over and received a pair of 3D glasses, (and yes! they were in 3D!). Now, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got them, kind of the typical “red and blue” deal, you know, but instead I got these…
A genuine pair of Real D 3D glasses. I must say they’re quite stylish. They’re also recyclable. By recyclable, I assumed that meant “take them home, pop out the lenses and wear them for fun and genuine entertainment, and hours of enjoyment”. So I did just that, and am doing that as I write this.
Pixar’s UP is preceded by one of their famous “shorts”, (not one that IS famous, but they’re known for their “shorts”) titled Partly Cloudy. I must say I really enjoyed it, I don’t want to really spoil much of it, because I want you all to be surprised as much as I was by how cute it was. Yes, that’s right, I said it was cute, who cares, get on with your lives. After enjoying the nice little short, the feature film starts.
Before I go on, let me just state that I’m going to do my best to keep this review as free of major spoilers as possible. Unless you’ve seen the film already, then I have THIS to say… “why are you reading a review? you can’t decide if you liked the movie for yourself?”.
Alright, onward… and… upward, I suppose.
IT’S A GOOD MOVIE, GO WATCH IT AND DON’T WASTE TIME OR RISK RUINING THE MOVIE BY READING REVIEWS!
All you need to know is this, Carl, the main character is an old man. He goes somewhere, and does stuff that involves balloons, talking dogs, and another old man with a “vincent price-stache”.
I’ve never been all that “alright! fun!”, in regards to games like Guitar Hero, and Rock Band, because really, I think they pull away from people wanting to play REAL instruments. I mean, think about it, some kid is given a 6 string guitar, with, say around 19-24 frets on it, and a plastic guitar with 5 buttons, all lined up in a row and colour coded, on it. Then tell this kid to play a song. You KNOW they’re going to opt to pick up that stupid little plastic guitar, because it’s “easier” to learn. My findings are these. If you can play Guitar Hero/Rock Band perfectly, you most like can’t play a real guitar, at all. If you can play REAL guitar, then you can play Guitar Hero with few mistakes, or can’t play it all. Maybe that’s just my inner, pretentious musician talking, but I still don’t like how the recent Guitar Hero Rockstars act like they’re better than they’re more realistically talented counterparts. I remember seeing a poster outside a club downtown once, it read “Come see Guitar Heroes that can ACTUALLY play guitar!” it made me chuckle a bit to myself because a lot of these kids don’t know what they’re missing. There was even one occasion where I saw a kid walking down the street with one of the peripherals strapped to his back, now, I don’t know where he was going, or anything of the sort, but I can only assume he was heading to a “gig” at his friends house where he can show off his “mad skills”, and how well he can systematically press 5 little buttons. Yeah, I’m a little bitter at the whole idea… but, I don’t “hate fun” as some would say, I just don’t like where this is going.
ANYWAY, I’m straying from what I want to actually talk about… The Beatles: Rock Band. This game looks absolutely awesome, and even though I’m more excited to just watch the game, than actually play it, the instruments they provide you with (optionally), look superb, and it’s probably the only way I’ll ever get to own a Rickenbacker guitar. Here’s some images I found on IGN.com
Please note that these images are individuals originally, and I combined them to save space, so their size in relation to each other is not accurate.
Also, here’s a few videos from E3, you can find the location of where I got them from on the respective videos.
THE BEATLES: ROCK BAND GAMEPLAY TRAILER
I really like what they’re doing with this game, the use of the ACTUAL stages made famous by The Beatles, as well as the costumes and clothing they wore during these times. overall this game looks like it’s going to be rich with visuals, too bad if you’re playing, you don’t really get to look at them a whole lot.
THE BEATLES: ROCK BAND CINEMATIC TRAILER
This is probably one of the coolest, well animated cinematic pieces I’ve seen in a long time, that isn’t computer generated obviously. Traditional animation has always caught my eye more than anything else.
I’m certain that this game doesn’t have many groundbreaking updates to it, as far as gameplay goes, because really what more can you do. Press this button in coordination with what shows up on the screen, and you get to hear the song. Yep, pretty basic. I’m more a fan of the little details they put in, like the stages, the costumes, the progressive hair styles belonging to the individual artists depending on the time. I really hope they have some sort of storyline, even if it’s minimal, instead of just playing through track after track. Also, I’ve heard rumours (true or not, I don’t know) that this game will include the ENTIRE discography of The Beatles. Being a fan, I can only hope so.
I’m really looking forward to this game, which is a first, for this type of game. I didn’t find the games of this type that are already out there to be overly appealing. Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, and Guitar Hero: Metallica just didn’t have that cool sort of vibe going on about it. This does, and I’m going to be sure to pick it up.
Made myself a new header. “Go team Venture!”. Yep! That’s right.
Anyway. I’m bored, and am in the process of organizing my room at my mom’s place, where I’m staying temporarily until I find a job, yeah, that’s right, I’m unemployed… no thanks to “the big blue box”. I can’t say the name, but I’m sure you know the place, it has a big dumb yellow tag. Yeah, there. I was fired for a dumb reason, long story, don’t feel like telling it. So yeah, I’m taking a break, set up my pc, along with the internet, obviously, and am listening to The Beatles on Itunes, it’s on shuffle, so it’s going through my entire music collection. All 30+ GBs of it. I know I have more, but that’s what I had the last time I checked.
I had my first meeting/band practice today with a friend of mine’s band. Billy Geek (or so he calls himself, or something) is the drummer for a band called “The Dead Boys Choir”. I really like the name, and the guys are pretty cool and funny. I’m going to be singing for them, if it works out. I didn’t sing yesterday, as I was just there to check them out, and see how we fit, as far as hanging out go. It went well. I’m going to be writing lyrics to the two tracks they have recorded, over the weekend, and have them ready for our next practice, which is on monday, so I have a bit of work to do. I tried to come up with stuff yesterday, while they were playing through their set… a bunch of times, but nothing really stood out in my head enough to step up to the mic, I’m usually pretty good with improvising lyrics, but I guess that’s more so in terms of my OWN music. I’m a little self-conscious when it comes to putting out lyrics in front of others. I don’t have a problem really singing in front of people, as I’ve done it before, and I know I can do it again. I know this next practice is going to rock, I can feel it in my bones.
…
I’m going to be doing a lot of writing and stuff for my project “Horror Hills” in the coming months. I REALLY want to get this thing rolling, and eventually submit it to a company to be made into an animated series. We’ll see. Just keep your damn filthy fingers crossed you little ones! THANKS!
